We are delighted to announce that in 2016, thanks to consistent generous support from our donors, the Rural Women’s Action Research unit (RWAR) of the Centre for Law and Society (CLS) has officially graduated into a stand-alone research centre known as the Land and Accountability Research Centre (LARC), allowing us to expand our areas of work and grow our staff. LARC is located within the Department of Public Law at the University of Cape Town. CLS will continue to function as a separate centre, while LARC will expand on the work done by RWAR.
We celebrated the launch of the new centre on 21 April 2016, together with the launch of an issue of People’s Law Journal, a publication by Ndifuna Ukwazi, to which LARC contributed.
