Rural Women’s Action Research (RWAR), based in the Faculty of Law at the University of Cape Town, is an interdisciplinary research unit supporting rural mobilisation, advocacy and strategic litigation on land rights, women’s rights, traditional governance, mining on communal land, and the nature of living customary law.
We are looking for dynamic, committed and curious researchers and a senior researcher to advance our work with rural communities facing an unprecedented onslaught against the rights promised in South Africa’s 1996 Constitution.
Requirements:
- Relevant social science or humanities degree (or a strong track record of directly relevant experience in community-based research);
- Proven commitment and skills in community-based engagement and advocacy;
- Excellent spoken and written English;
- Fluency in Sesotho or Nguni languages would be an advantage;
- Great interpersonal and communication skills;
- An appetite for rural travel and a valid driver’s licence.
