Raymond Suttner is Emeritus Professor at the University of South Africa as well as Honorary Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He was a political prisoner sentenced for ANC underground activities between 1975 and 1983. He was detained without trial under state of emergency between 1986 to 1988.
Suttner has written articles for South Africa and overseas journals on: jurisprudence, African Customary Law, sociology, gender studies, history, International Law and Politics. He has written extensively in ANC, UDF publications, commercial and ‘alternative’ press.
